The subject aims to provide students the capability to engage an independent study on the assigned by his/her advisor. It will facilitate students’ research skills and experience as well as their knowledge on the topic.

Students need to complete the following tasks of the course, including
1. working with course advisor to form the research topic, or on the assigned topic by advisor,
2. engaging a comprehensive literature survey of the topic,
3. structuring the report for the research topic, and
4. Writing a report of the study, and publishing it at a peer-reviewed international academic conference in the next semester.
