The course will lead the students to read 1 simplified literary work to help the students to improve the reading skill and to understand the western culture.

Your final grade will be determined by the following:
Class participation and response, worksheet, reader theater, role play -30%
Video, tests - 30%
Mid-term project (on one or two children’s books of your own choice) - 20%, including an oral presentation and a dramatic response, e.g., role play.
Final project (on one or two children’s books of your own choice) - 20%, including an oral presentation and a dramatic response, e.g., role play.
Oral Presentation :
a power point presentation of your book report (including a biographical sketch of the author, a summary of the book, an analysis of plots and characters, a discussion of themes, symbols, tones and styles, your criticism and personal response to the book).
a dramatic response to your chosen book (select a story or one chapter of your chosen book and re-present it in one of the following ways: storytelling/reading aloud, story theater, reader’s theater, puppet theater, or other dramatic responses).
