課程進度表 Academic Writing is a required two-semester graduate course. It equips AE graduate students with the knowledge of features and conventions of academic writing in the fields of English language teaching and business communication. And it intends to develop the participants’ writing skills for producing clear, coherent, and well-organized research papers in the APA format.

In Academic Writing II, the objectives of the course are three-fold. First, the students will further develop their writing skills for summarizing and critiquing ideas and information for academic purposes. Second, they will draw up outlines for introducing their thesis, reviewing literature, explaining methods, and describing data. Third, this writing course aims to assist the participants in proposing their research proposal. Overall, it familiarizes the grad students with the APA format, and helps them complete their theses.

Finally, the grades for this course are based on the following three criteria: discussion, presentation and participation (50%), thesis introduction (30%), and a short literature review (20%).
